Fantastic weekend of bowling in the Peter Wright Memorial charity doubles. Thanks everyone who entered, supported or helped. Glorious weather joined in too. Big congratulations to the winners Steve Andertonand Michael Opie. And commiserations to runners up John Cooper and Colin Crompton. Some awesome bowling from both pairs in the 21-16 final scoreline. Losing semi-finalists were Pete Welman and Gary Evans, and Craig Bill Ramelll and Michael Burns. See you all next year !

 It's top prize in the raffle at the Peter Wright Memorial Open Doubles at Sabden on May 14 and 15, raising funds for Marie Curie. 

Tickets are £1 each. Lots of other prizes too. 

The draw will be before the final on Sunday, May 15.

This beautiful artwork has been created specially for the competition by Jill Wright of JillWrightArt in memory of her Uncle Peter. 

It's the chairman's coffee morning at the club house on Saturday (April 2) from 10am. Everyone's welcome. Tickets are £2 each and you can pay on the door. There'll be plenty going on and it's the first social get together of the season. See you there...

Competition dates 2016 for you from Sabden...:

- The Peter Wright open charity doubles (formerly the Peter Lambert comp) is on Saturday and Sunday, May 14 and 15. Raising money for Marie Cure Nurses.
- The Marjorie Atkinson open charity doubles is on Saturday and Sunday, August 6 and 7, in aid of Macmillan Care. - Sabden Floodlit Open singles starts on Tuesday, Sept 6th, then Thursday, Sept 8th. Then every Tuesday and Thursday in the month until Thursday, Sept 29th. Finals Sunday is on October 2nd, starting at 4pm.

The two doubles comps are full, but please get your names down anyway on the reserve list. For all sorts of reasons, pairs drop out and reserves are always needed.

Entries are being taken now for the Floodlit Singles.

Peter's niece, Jill Wright (Jill Wright Art) has created a stunning original artwork specially for the competition raffle.

Peter, who died last year from cancer, was a long-time club member, bowler and familiar cheerful presence at greens across the north.
